UD Trucks Southern Africa (UDTSA), and its well-established dealership, UD Trucks Ermelo handed over the first batch of 20 Croner H30 units to its long-standing customer, KwaZulu Natal Department of Transport – pothole brigade division.

This handover follows a recent major order of 55 trucks by the Department, with the remaining units set to be delivered in batches in the upcoming months. The acquisition of the new fleet further strengthens the government’s ongoing commitment to improving the provincial road network conditions.

The keys to the new fleet were handed over by Robert Patson, Sales Executive UD Trucks Ermelo to Premier Nomusa Dube-Ncube, the MEC for Transport and Community Safety, Sipho Hlomuka, along with Nonhlanhla, the MEC for Social Development, among others.

KwaZulu Natal Department of Transport Premier Nomusa Dube-Ncube comments on the delivery of new trucks: “We are incredibly pleased to be adding 20 new trucks into our existing fleet. The new trucks, not only deepen our long-standing partnership with UDTSA but send a very strong message about our ongoing efforts to fast-track pothole patching in the province. We are confident that we have fit-for-purpose vehicles with leading technology in place, thanks to UDTSA for adhering to our stringent requirements and ensuring on-time delivery. We look forward to future engagements as we continue to prioritize the state of roads and creating job opportunities in our province”.

The impressive new fleet is fitted with the state-of-the-art UD pothole patching technology, Allison gearbox, UD Connected Services and a recovery unit which is now a standard inclusion on all UD models for a period of five years - providing customers with peace of mind with cutting-edge fleet management solutions.

The Department of Transport is responsible for the regulation and coordination of Transportation in South Africa that is Public Transport, Rail Transportation, Civil Aviation, Maritime Transport, and Road Transport.
