On April 1, UD Trucks held a ceremony to welcome 224 new graduates, marking the highest number to join in 20 years.
Among the new graduates, 64 are non-Japanese, as the company is accelerating its effort to create a more diverse workplace. A total of 174 new graduates are mechanics, who will help improve the speed and quality of customer service on the ground.
UD Truck’s Chairman Joachim Rosenberg welcomed the new employees to the UD family. He also emphasized that we are in transforming times in our industry, saying that “These are challenging and exciting times, with automation, connectivity, and electromobility continuously on the rise. You have picked a good industry to work within! ”
Mika Arai, a female mechanic said “Ultimate Dependability means gaining the trust not only of our customers, but of our colleagues and managers as well. It’s about embracing and continuing the UD Trucks heritage. I want to do my best as a mechanic to win the customers’ trust.”
Habarakadage Thanuj Nilanka, a mechanic from Sri Lanka remarked “Our passion is in maintaining vehicles that our customers rely on. When there is a problem that I can’t solve on my own, I am thrilled to work with my colleagues in a collective sense of cooperation, responsibility, and pride. ”
Together with this diverse group of new graduates, UD Trucks will strive to provide the best products and services to all customers nationwide.
