UD Trucks has started sales of its medium-duty Croner truck developed for emerging markets in Peru. Peru’s rate of economic growth is outperforming other economies in Central and South America. Success is foreseen in the country’s vigorous diplomacy and its economic policies, and introducing the highly durable medium-duty Croner will contribute to the country’s economic development.
Having adopted a new policy of economic liberalization, and blessed with abundant mineral resources, Peru’s economy is outpacing other Central and South American countries. As a signatory to the comprehensive Trans Pacific Partnership, the country’s vigorous foreign policy is expected to lead to further trade expansion. High growth is also expected as a result of the government’s efforts to strengthen the country’s roads and other infrastructure.
UD Trucks has been active in Central and South America for approximately 50 years. Built to endure a harsh high altitude environment where many roads are surfaced, UD Trucks have earned high customer regard for reliability. Before the new Croner could be released, every consideration was given to the mountainous terrain where it will be operating. An endurance run at a 5,000 meter altitude ensured its quality and reliability. The 11-ton LKE and 15-ton PKE versions are aimed primarily at the high demand for inter-urban transport within the capital, Lima. A steady roll-out to other areas, and expansion of the model, is also planned in accordance with customer requirements.
Jacques Michel, Senior Vice President of Group Trucks Asia & JVs Sales joined all the events and said “We see a great future for UD Trucks in Peru, and that is why we are launching the all new medium duty Croner.”
Silvia Gerber, Managing Director of UD Trucks Latin America said “Peru is our biggest market. There are many old Condors running here, with a very good reputation, which give us good expectations for the brand and for the new Croner in this market. We are confident that with this launch and with our good products and services, we will meet the customer´s demands.”
“With excellent after-sales service from the Volvo Group, its wide dealer network and superior quality, I am sure that Croner will make every moment count for our customers in Peru.”(Jacques Michel)
On November 8th, UD Trucks and Croner were officially introduced to the Peruvian market with a press conference held at Mercado Mayorista, in Lima. Over 20 different media channels covered the event.
The first two Croner units were handed over to the customers by Jacques Michel and Jörgen Sjöstedt, Managing Director of Volvo Group Peru on November 8.
